Who We Are

A Place to DISCOVER every day

Diversity.

Our center welcomes and celebrates diverse family backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, religions and economic status.

Innovation.

In addition to pre-academics that every good program should have, our center offers “Discover Clubs.” Our children may choose:

  • Lil Linguists Club (French or Spanish),

  • Lil Farmers Club (e.g.: hydroponic and aquaponic gardening),

  • Lil Picassos Club (New! Release the inner artist in partnership with JAACK art studio

Safety.

  • Ratios:  2 adults for every 8-10 children

  • Staff are thoroughly background checked and fingerprinted.  Staff will drug test regularly.

  • Staff meet all State licensing requirements and education.

  • Each classroom is monitored via camera security system.

  • Building entrances will be visually monitored and secured.

  • Discovery Place will follow all COVID-19 guidance from the CDC.

Connection.

Parental involvement is key in any educational setting.  Although we know many parents are working, it is our hope to have families into the building for fun activities with their children, such as “Sock Hops” or “Ice Cream Socials.”

In addition, the center will be using Procare app, to help keep parents connected at the tap of a button.

Opportunities.

Discovery Place is a great opportunity for positive social interactions kids and their families.  Discovery Place requires school uniforms, but we are also dedicated to making life easier for families.  Therefore, we will have semi-annual “Swap, Drop and Roll” events.   Parents can “Drop” clean, gently used uniforms and other clothing at the center to “Swap” with other families who bring their gently used items.  This is not only an opportunity to obtain clothing, but to meet and socialize with other families.

Village

The African Proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” inspires Discovery Place to partner with the community to support our families.  Our laundry room is available for families to use free of charge on Saturday mornings.  We plan other free and/or low-cost events and activities to support our community.

Educated and Dedicated Staff

Teaching staff must have education/experience in early childhood, elementary education or related fields.  Staff will also participate in quarterly training opportunities to build their skills and learn new strategies.

Relationships

Our center is a place for kids and adults to foster caring and appropriate relationships with others.  Teaching non-violence, and kindness is part of our curriculum every day.

Our Story

Discovery Place Child Development Center is born of a desire to offer exceptional learning experiences to families with preschoolers in the Saint Louis area.  Our mission, "Preparing little minds for bright futures, one discovery at a time" summarizes the belief that the spirit of adventure, exploration and discovery are the foundations for future trailblazers.  Our goal is to provide daily experiences for little ones to enjoy their "Aha" moments.

Team

Dedication. Education. Passion.
